Top Tips for Hosting Facebook Live

Best Practices for Hosting a Facebook Live Event

There are a number of things you can do when recording your Facebook Live events to make them more engaging for your audience.  In this article, we will discuss the best ways to make your Facebook Live event memorable.

Remember to smile!

Nobody wants to see a depressed Facebook Live host with a serious expression.  If you do this, you will notice that people will leave your event quickly.  Smiling in front of the camera should be practiced as much as possible so that when you record your event, it comes naturally to you.  Your audience will always respond positively to your cheerful demeanour.

Speaking with a smile is also something you should practice.  Nobody wants to listen to a host who has a monotone voice or a hostile tone.  This will bore your audience and cause them to leave faster than you can imagine.  People will admire and be inspired by your personality when you speak with a smile.

Engage with your audience

You want as much participation in your event as possible.  This entails attracting as many comments, likes, shares, and views as possible to your event.  The reason for this is that Facebook will place your event near the top of Facebook users’ news feeds, increasing your chances of being discovered.

The best way to accomplish this is to invite your audience to participate.  For example, you can pose questions to your audience and ask them to respond by leaving a comment.  Tell your audience that if they enjoy your event, you would appreciate it if they would spread the word to their friends and family.

We recommend that you hold a question and answer session in which your audience can ask you questions in the comments and you can respond.  There are other things you can do, such as run a poll and ask your audience to rate something.  With all of your Facebook Live events, aim for maximum interaction.

Make the Most of Your Mistakes

When you record live events, one thing is certain: you will make mistakes.  After a while of recording live events, you will most likely make fewer mistakes, but they will still occur.  Don’t be too hard on yourself when you make a mistake.  Your audience will most likely laugh, so join in the fun.

Your audience will not be expecting a flawless event.  Some of your viewers may even enjoy it when you make mistakes, because it provides a welcome break.  Instead of hating your mistakes, embrace them. Always remember that if you make a mistake, you should just get over it and move on.

Get Answers to Your Questions

If you anticipate that your event will generate a lot of questions, it is a good idea to plan for some assistance.  Trying to run your event and answer a lot of questions at the same time will be a real challenge for you, and it will most likely not result in the best event possible.

Having another person who can read the comments as they come in and respond to them will be extremely beneficial.  It will also benefit your audience, who will appreciate the quick response.  You must select an assistant who is knowledgeable enough to answer the questions correctly.
