How to Survive the Affiliate War

Winning the ongoing affiliate war is not easy, but it IS winnable (unlike some wars). Affiliate marketers who are sluggish cannot and will not win the affiliate wars. Affiliate marketing wars will be won by aggressive strategists willing to work hard and long hours.

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is not for those who are easily discouraged. Would you have joined the fray if you had known how tough the competition is in affiliate marketing? It makes no difference. You’re in the thick of it right now, and quitting is simply not an option for a true warrior. The only way out is to win…and win big!

How to Have More Visitors to Your Website

Winning the affiliate marketing wars entails taking small daily battles and minor skirmishes one at a time and winning them all.

You aspire to be one of those super affiliates. You want to be one of those high-earners with an annual income that includes more than one comma in the bottom line, right?

Then you must be willing to put in a lot of effort. You must be willing to go above and beyond the call of duty. You must be willing to go the extra mile.

First and foremost, in affiliate marketing, reputation is important. There are thousands of affiliate marketers out there, but the ones who make the most money are those who have established a high level of visibility and credibility.

Credibility and visibility go hand in hand, and establishing both is critical to your success and victory over your competitors.

Credibility and visibility can be established in a variety of ways. Writing and marketing articles and E-Books about the products and services you sell are two of the most important ways to establish credibility and visibility. You must establish yourself as an authority figure…a guru, if you will.

You must become the person to whom others turn when they require information or have questions answered. Writing articles and E-Books (or having them written for you by a ghost writer) is one of the most effective ways to establish your reputation as an expert.

Articles you write or have ghost writers write for you will be uploaded to article banks for other website owners and E-zine publishers to download and reproduce absolutely no cost

You will include a resource box with your name and website address at the bottom of each 300-400 word, keyword-rich article. This aids in the spread of your name and news of your expertise across the Internet to those who are most likely to become your customers.

E-books should be no more than 10 to 12 pages long, but a link to your website should be included on every page as well as in the resource box at the end. E-books are uploaded to E-Book repositories, where others can download and reproduce them in the same way that articles are.

Because it is required that E-Books cannot be altered and that resource box information be included when E-Books are downloaded and reproduced, your reputation as an expert in your field will be enhanced each time they are used.

Posting to blogs and forums with topics related to the products and services you sell is another way to increase your visibility and credibility on the Internet. Finding these forums and blogs is a piece of cake. Simply enter your related key word into your preferred search engine’s search box, followed by the plus sign (+) and the words blogs or forums. You’ll get a lot of hits.

Choose three or four of the ones with the most active members and join those blogs or forums. Take care here. Effectively posting to blogs and forums will take several hours of your time each week, so don’t choose too many.

After you’ve joined three or four blogs and forums, don’t go in with guns blazing and post obvious advertisements. The goal here is to increase visibility and credibility. Introduce yourself and act as if you’ve just moved to a new neighbourhood.

Your name, as well as a link to your website, should appear in your signature tag, which appears at the bottom of every post you make.

Take the time to get to know the other posters in the community and establish yourself as a valuable member of the group. You will gain a positive reputation, visibility, and credibility.

Visibility and Credibility

Building your visibility and credibility takes time. You will be promoting and selling products and services while you are building them, and you will want to establish a good relationship with those who buy products and services from you. Make certain that you provide accurate information, prompt service, and, if applicable, a guarantee.

Make every effort to never appear to your customers to be a cheapo or a corner cutter. Always treat your customers as if they are your most valuable asset…because they are.

Never offer discounts or rebates on products or services. You don’t want to establish that kind of reputation or customer base. Instead of offering discounts or rebates, take the time and make the effort to add bonus incentives to the products and services you promote to add value.

The men and women who go to the trouble and take the time to build excellent reputations as experts and fair and honest merchants are the winners of the affiliate wars.

People buy things from people they feel they know and can trust on the Internet. People buy things on the Internet from affiliate marketers who have a reputation as an expert or guru, as well as one who genuinely cares about the people to whom he sells goods and services. A positive and hardworking reputation, as well as a fair–dealing reputation, will help you win the daily battles and, eventually, the affiliate war.
